Just blocks from the Manzanita Golf Course and the biking and hiking of Nehalem Bay State Park, On the Sand is aptly named right out the door is dune grass and sand right down to the surf. Walk for miles, enjoying northern views of majestic Neahkahnie Mountain. When you retreat to your home after a long day of exploring the coast, you’ll find a classic Oregon cottage with wood-lined walls, a vaulted ceiling, and tall windows that take full advantage of the ocean views. The living room has plenty of comfortable seating and a large flat-screen TV/DVD, a CD player, and books to keep you entertained. The dining room beside view windows opens to a wind-screened deck for extending your dining options from the fully equipped galley kitchen. The primary bedroom has a walk-in. If access to the beach is at the top of your wish list for a coastal stay, On the Sand is a classic choice!

Mini Vacation in the Dunes

Enjoyed a great 3-night stay at this little bungalow tucked into the dunes. House was better than advertised, and bigger than it appears. Nicely remodeled bedrooms with king beds and huge bathrooms, everything clean, private despite being tucked in among other beachfront houses, and a bright living space—kitchen + living room—with panoramic views of the grassy dunes and the surf. Will definitely return.

Ants in the small bathroom made it tough to use. Loved the 2 primary suites and the nice bathrooms. The bunk room is really very cramped and the large bed needs tightening, it is quite wobbly. It was a really nice weekend. We appreciated the comfortable furniture in the living room and the beautiful large dining table. Both were great for family time.

Manzanita Beachfront

This property is in a quiet, private, safe area right on the sand and sea grass facing the ocean. It can sleep 8-10 people comfortably. It was clean and well stocked.
There is only a silver of a view of the ocean due to the dunes and sea grass so please take that into consideration. You can hear the ocean though. It takes a minute or two to walk through the path in the sea grass to get to the beach.
Manzanita is a beautiful expansive beach. It is not crowded and you can walk for seven miles. We had great weather in July (high of 70) but keep in mind it can be rainy and cold on the coast the rest of the year. But it is still fun!
There are a few shops, restaurants, and a small grocery store in Manzanita. If you want more of a selection, drive up to Cannon Beach about 15 minutes north. Check out Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach. It is a must see, especially at low tide because of the tide pools. Get a bowl of clam chowder and Mo's. It's the best.
The check in procedures mentioned a fireplace but there isn't one.
Overall, as a local Oregonian, I would recommend this property, this area of the coast, and the rental experience.

The location was great. You can see and hear the ocean from the house. As the owner said it is older home, but there was room for two active six year olds.
A couple things to improve two of the stove top burners did not work. One of the living room lights did not work.
Need directions on how to operate their tv system. It would have helped for down time.
We would come back again.

When we received a text around 11am the day of our check-in saying our check-in time was moved to 6pm, I panicked a bit. We had 24 hours with our small extended family to connect during a celebration of life for a family member. The situation wasn't a simple celebration, after 31 years of the family member missing and people traveled from 3 different states to be together, every hour felt crucial. I was extremely grateful when I called and explained that we only had a short time together to connect. Joyce was understanding and said she would see what she could do. Hours later when she called back she said they could honor the check-in time. When we arrived the house was clean and ready and we were very appreciative. I liked the text check-in to see how our experience was going and offering assistance if we needed anything.

The property is perfectly nestled on the beach with a wonderful patio. It is an extremely comfortable home that makes relaxing easy. The view is so much fun! I drank morning coffee while watching waves crest and an eagle fly overhead.

Not only was this place beyond our expectations, we three girls had an exceptional relaxing time in this quiet getaway. It all started with special handling from Shannon at Manzanita Office, I was early, she got me in. I had trouble with the locks, she walked me through it. We had trouble with a toilet, she came to our rescue. I left my blanket, she has "sunk her teeth" into the issue and has found it. All of this extra Customer Service from Shannon while there were fewer employees to cover all these requests, and she was virtually the only one to contact. She made sure I could contact her personally for any 'derailed' detail. We could not have asked for any better accommodation, Thank You Shannon, for going above and beyond, during an uncertain and stressful time.

Great spot right on the beach

This is a wonderful little spot to spend some time away. The location couldn't be nicer, just a path across the dunes to the beach. Some nice restaurants and a good grocery store are just a couple minutes drive away, or a 15 minute walk down the beach. The house has a bit of a home-built feel, but is well stocked with dishes and blankets and everything you could need. Would definitely stay again on our next trip to the Oregon coast!
